A Perfect Day for Misery

soooooo...let me start by apologizing to my friend Mike - this is a long one too, Mike. so sorry.

the past few days have been rather uneventful - but that tends to be the case after a week of non-stop going out. Its fine though - if there weren't a lull then you couldn't appreciate the exciting times as much, right?
lets see...I had my second photoshop class - the teacher is sooo much better - no chocolate coated teeth - less mumbling - and the people in the class are less of a sideshow. ;)

Yesterday I woke up at 7:45 and was out the door by 8:30 - walked for like 3 hours. Went to the park, got a crazy blister, took a nap there, kept reading This Side of Paradise (Fitzgerald) which thus far seems to be about a young man who aspires to be a snob.
Here's the view of the trees I had as I dozed off to sleep in the park.

Here's a copy of the book.

My awesome new flip flops called havaianas. ALLLLL the kids in BA are wearing them, so naturally had to get a pair.

spotted a dogwalker with the right idea. smart guy...

That evening I went with Flurina The Chronicles of Narnia. Fun - but not EXCELLENT. The kids were lacking a little something. Not sure. But I enjoyed it b/c i'm a big nerd and sucker for things that require stretching or completely abandoning reality. Plus, I read the whole series as a kid. When I got home I could hear the wind in my apartment before i even opened the door. I had left the balcony window open and the wind was insanely strong - like gale force! Both curtains were flapping like 4 feet off the floor, papers had blown off the table. Pretty cool actually. Within an hour there was crazy lightening again. This morning i woke up early again but it was pounding rain so i decided to stay in bed.

And finally i'm rewarded with a dismal grey day!!!!!! (I know you aren't supposed to start sentences with a conjunction - but who cares, right? I'm trying to ease up a little while i'm down here ;) i even got to wear a light sweater!!!! Oh - I also totally stubbed a toe - so I've been gimping around a bit. Thats alright though - adds to the gloomy effect that I love! To top it all off - they were showing Misery on tv - which rocked of course. Remember when she hobbles the guy? bananas. I'm your number one fan!

Kathy Bates did say something that struck a tiny chord with me "If you cant enjoy your own company doesn't make you fit company for someone else" - I guess thats what I'm getting used to here. Being my own company- its good - thus far I'm not disappointed ;) hehe. Also - there's one I heard a while back but I dont remember who said it "Only boring people get bored". Love that one. So true.

Oh yeah - all i had in the fridge yesterday was mayonnaise, onions, lemons, yeast, butter and milk. So today i limped over to the market and finally made use of B.A.'s delivery madness. I felt a lame (literally and figuratively) doing it because the market is 3 blocks away, but i had a great deal to buy and the limping wasn't going to be aided by carrying heavy bags.
My delivered groceries and my messed up foot - the band aid is from a blister from yesterday's walk.

Oh - how annoying - a ray of sunlight in my apartment........and the clouds covered up the sun again. whew!

Last bit - here's what I've been listening to on my Nano these days - again - thanks so much to my work peeps for getting me that. Every time I turn it on I'm grateful. Music can even make walking to the bank exciting. It can make you choreograph a sweeping routine for your apartment. Going up the elevator with a stack of just-laundered clothing suddenly has a romantic air about it. Its the best. Puts a spring in your step, makes you happy when you're feeling sad, inspires you to get up and at 'em. YAY!

Hung Up - Madonna - heard it was based on an ABBA sample . How genius were the ABBA people? Undeniably catchy.
My Cherie Amour - Stevie Wonder - just lovely. Listening to it right now.
El Profe-Miranda - hilarious song from here. Where the Police say "Dont Stand So Close to Me" - this one is outright asking
"Please lie to me when I ask you your age" !!!! watch out!!!!
Visit to the Zoo and Letters from Hogwarts- John Williams - yes, Harry Potter. Please refer to the early statement about me
being a big nerd....and lets say more like massive nerd.
I'm Walking Away- Craig David - what happened to this guy? great voice.
Die Gedanken Sind Frei (Thoughts Are Free)- Brazilian Girls - tango intro, singing in German! one word: RAD.
Fearless- The Bravery - I think this is the one with that awesome video where they're on speedboats. totally captures the
feeling of the song.
Down On the Corner- Creedence Clearwater Revival - great sing along song. makes me wanna learn how to play the spoons.
Let Me Ride - Dr. Dre feat Snoop - so there's a bit of quiet before this song plays. Then out of nowhere "beeeyaaatch!" and
when you're walking around on the street its hilarious to hear. plus, reminds me of home. haha!
Oh My God - Kaiser Chiefs - this one says "Oh My God, I cant believe it, I've never been this far away from home". ;)
Roll Out- Ludacris - I love Ludacris' delivery. Plus, the song cracks me up.
Just Another Day -Oingo Boingo - Danny Elfman is so brilliant. This song starts "There's life underground" - and then has a
bunch of bars of music before lyrics start up again. So genius. I know they wont play together again.....makes me so sad.
Connected - Stereo MC's - also a good sing along song, has a good beat for walking...just gotta make sure i dont keep
walking and not pay attention to the crosswalk. Lyrics also say "stumble you might fall". lot of that happens here!
Take Your Hand - Usher - my new favorite song on the Confessions album. Just sounds like he must've had a great time
recording this one. You can hear it. Great beat.
The Air Near My Fingers - The White Stripes - I love them. No matter what track i'm listening to before the White Stripes just
totally snap me into the mood of their song.
Trying Your Luck - The Strokes - my favorite song from their first album.
L.S.F (Lost Souls Forever) - Kasabian - I'm sure this is some X-Games montage. Its gotta be.
True Love is Blind - Louis XIV Louis XIV - wrong track name. Anyhow - i cant believe they're from San Diego. Too cool.
Zorro Is Back - Oliver Onions- there's clapping in this. I like clapping, cowbells, kazoos. bring it!
Waiting - Green Day - its a good song about destiny, seizing the day - inspirational but not corny. what a relief.
Darts Of Pleasure - Franz Ferdinand - i decided i liked the song the first time b/c the title is cool. luckily so is the song.

ciao!
