The museum, rain, and good eats...

Today i went to MALBA - Museo Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires. Nice place, very modern, minimal etc. Interesting art. the most recognizable piece being Frida Kahlos' self portrait with parrot and monkey. Couldn't take pictures there so i snagged one off the net. There were two rooms though, where you had to take off your shoes before entering - and i did snap some shots there b/c there were no nasty docents/volunteers to bug you. First room had hammocks hanging that you could lie down in and stare at the walls where images of Jimi Hendrix flashed and his music played in the background.

The second had some music - dont remember what it was, but it had Marilyn Monroe images and the floor was covered with yellow, red and white balloons.

I had lunch at the museum - started pouring rain while i was eating my carpaccio. I decided to start up a sudoku (number puzzles popularized by the Japanese...go to www.websudoku.com - its awesome - my friend Misty introduced it to me) to help me pass the time until the rain stopped. it was taking too long - i headed outside and my long baggy jeans soaked up the water and my poor feet suffered due to my wearing flip flops. tsk tsk.

anyhow - hailed a cab - the guy kept asking me how i wanted to get home...like what streets to take. I know the streets - what i dont remember which ones run in what directions being that most streets here are one-ways. anyhow - he and i had some chats about the ideal way of reaching my place. you know, you think that maybe the cab driver is taking you 'for a ride' - but then you may realize that he's just trying to find a street that will take you in the right direction cuz verything is one-way!!!. can be frustrating. anyhow - he really seemed to want to get me to my destination b/c not only was he flooring it, he was honking at everyone and at one point, we were so close to a bus that i could have easily stuck my hand out the window and placed my entire palm flat against the side. thats some skillful driving boys and girls.

For dinner this evening Flurina and I went to Maldito Salvador. soooooooooo good. i had mojellas as a tapa, a mesclun salad (assortment of greens with vinaigrette), and these caprese ravioli with a fresh mushroom sauce which was sooooooooo good.
the place had a great vibe. cool music, wonderful interior. we sat outside, but if we return, we'll definitely get an inside table.

Then after we went to this bar/coffee shop type place which used to be a home - so the architecture was cool. several different rooms stairs here and there. anyhow - they made this great dessert that had a hot brownie topped with dulce de leche icream and it had raspberry sauce and chocolate sauce. it was called the Bruno T and it rocked. Here's a pic of how they serve the coffee with little shots of water and some tiny cookies.
