Today, I tried and failed to get into a polo finals match. I went with my Swiss friend, Flurina, who is also here for 6 months.
Let me tell you - a polo match is basically a summit of gorgeous people. Guys in particular. The vast majority of the men there were hot/handsome. You can even tell that the youngsters are going to turn out good looking.

The scene was very much polo elite. British types, some Americans, everyone speaking a few different languages. The game was totally sold out and there were no tickets being sold on the street. We figured that everyone that had a ticket, was using it. While standing outside some guy came up to us from some tv show i guess and asked me "hey, miss punk rock with the blue hair - think you'll get in? everyone here is blonde!" so he interviewed us - the camera was WAY TOO CLOSE - its like a little hand-held thing. So maybe we'll be on tv. Its called...umm..Camera de Mano or something. Basically "Hand Held Camera". I think i'll look it up and see.

Anyway - we went couldn't get in and so we drowned our sorrows in ice cream. The ice cream here is more gelato style - its excellent. Very creamy. The place to go is called Persicco. I got two scoops for 5 pesos (3 pesos = U$1).

Forgot to mention - I'm signing up for classes at the Club Hipico de Argentina. (http://www.clubhipicoargentino.org.ar/). I decided before I came that I wanted to take horseback riding lessons. How could I leave this country and not know how to ride a horse!??! it would be shameful. So I went for an intro class. It went well. Luckily some of the feeling came back to me. I was able to follow the trot pretty well, used a crop. Its not easy though - my instructor, Marina was constantly throwing out reminders "Heels down, back straight, hands further out, bring in the reigns, hands closer together! Heels down! Remember to kick the horse - heels down! Good. Pull the reigns in more. Heels down!" She's like a machine gun of instruction.
Anyhow - I have to become a member to join. I have to be "interviewed". WHAT!?!? haha. they better not reject the hair.

What else - ah yes - tomorrow at 11 AM in a beautiful park nearby is a classical music concert. The Swiss Miss and I are going and taking some food, picnic type thing.

Oh - and I was checking out estancias today (estancias are ranches).
Take a look at this...its amazing.

I must go to one. I mean - c'mon. Did you look at the site? Its insane. Plus - need to get out of the city for a bit.

Hey - something annoying - my local supermarket "Disco" has conveyer belts at the checkout stands - but guess what - they dont use them. I went once this morning and they guy says "can you bring your items closer please?". So I thought, maybe the conveyer belt is broken. I went again today and I noticed - they never use them. I want to ask them "excuse me, why do you have these if you aren't going to make use of their ability to transfer the items from one end to the other?" But, whats the point? Its frustrating to see though - feels like its indicative of so much here. They have tools to be effective - but dont use them. Thanks Disco.

Persicco is now the "who's who" of gelato spots. the city is littered with places where they sell what they call "helados artesanales" - or handmade/non-mega-manufactured ice cream. I'll do research though - with pleasure!! ;)
