let me start by saying that i apologize the lack of photos. annoyingly - the system used for putting up picks is just for PCs, not for mac users. sux. i may decide to change my blogging provider!
moving on - I'm going to attempt to actually get a little more involved in this town as opposed to just wandering around trying to memorize streets and find appliances and such. Luckily i was finally able to purchase an iron. lovely. that and a pot, and some extra hangers. tomorrow i pick up some blue suede shoes that i had re-soled.
ahhh - the mundane.
some goals for this week:
get a ticket to a polo match. hopefully the season isn't over. hopefully there are some tickets left. I've been hearing that it may be tough to get tix - but i'm banking on the chance that they have single tickets. fingers crossed.
i'm going to pay my rent and ask the guy about getting an internet line in here that way my connection isn't so sketchy.
in an effort to not be completely useless while i'm here, i'm going to offer my services as a volunteer to an non-profit called "Help Argentina". The reason i chose this one? b/c a few weeks after quitting my job I ran into this kid from my karate class. i told him i handn't been going b/c 1) i hurt my shoulder, and 2) i was moving down to Argentina. he told me about his friend Lloyd who was in BA and had started Help Argentina. Well, it stayed in the back of my mind, but this first week I hand't thought about it at all, unti lthis morning when my cousin's wife was flipping through La Nacion, a paper here, and I see the name Lloyd Niemetz (sp?). I grabbed the paper b/c the name Lloyd rang a bell. At first I thought it caught my attention b/c my cousin's wife worked at Lloyd's bank. When i took a closer look and read the first couple of lines I realized this was my karate friend's friend!
so I took that as a sign. I have to go meet with this fellow. Lets see if they need me.
Oh - I also saw some hot air balloons this weekend. I've got to investigate that. I've always wanted to. I love the idea.
i need to find a place to do some yoga - pilates is also very big here.
also need to look into cooking school. that would rock. if not, art classes. something with my hands.
riding horseback may have to wait - its going to get even hotter I imagine - as we plunge headfirst into summer. being in riding gear may be toture. unless i have the discipline to wake up early and take classes at 5 am when dawn breaks.
but the main goal - meet some peeps. i dont want to be dependant on family for socializing.
I'd also like to give a big shout out to "Enano" - my iPod nano - for providing me with a soundtrack as I wander around the city. its been wonderful. and of course - another big "wassup" to my old work peeps - since they hooked up the nano. i am truly grateful. And to my brother, Bobby!!!!!!!! the 28th is his birthday! you go, Big G!ß
