Joyce in town and New Years 2006!!!!!
The day after Joyce got in we went to the Teatro Colon to see Giselle - the famous ballet. We got a balcony all to ourselves. It was great - we just imagined the old days when it was the place to see and be seen...

We have yet to actually go inside the famous cemetary - but we got awfully close - here we are outside its walls...

Of course we had to catch a tango show. The place we went to used to be an old customs werehouse. Great building. The show was a bit corny - but hey.

Friday night we had dinner in Las CaƱitas - a neighborhood where people go to show off. Annoyingly, also the neighborhood where I discovered my cell phone was lost - booooo! In any case - we spent the entire dinner taking pictures, experimenting with light and exposure etc. In this one, Joyce looks like a ninja!

Joyce folded up like an asian accordion while we waited for a 'subte'

Crazy story goes with this. We expected a mellow evening - dinner in San Telmo. We decide to catch a drink at Mundo Bizarro . We ended up meeting this Argentine guy, Brian - and his very flamboyant Australian boss. We end up going with them to Club 69 where, as you can imagine, there is a crazy kinky s&m type show going on. Everyone is sweating like mad and cracked out dacing to that pounding electronic music. Trannies, broken bottles on the dancefloor, strobe lights - you name it - its all there. We go upstairs (it was like a SAUNA) - Joyce and I cant stop laughing at Brian's crazy personality, then Kaboom! we hear a thud - its his boss passed out on the ground. Luckily, the boss comes to but we decide to leave the club. At this point its daylight - we drop the boss off and then go get some facturas and end up going to sleep around 7:30 AM. So much for a quiet dinner. We wish we had pictures of the evening - but it went by in a such an odd fashion we never even thought to take out our cameras, so I snagged this picture of Mundo Bizarro off the net.

New Years - we started on the terrace of an old house, ended up at Mint - a big club on the shore...
These are a few of the kids who were kind enough to let us crash their party - they're mostly part of a language school and they live in a very cool building on Pueyrredon near Santa Fe.

The boys in our group Andre, Gabriel, Chief and Stefan.

At the stroke of midnight (at least, when we all decided it was midnight b/c everyone had different minutes on their watches).

The girls -Melissa, Jo, Wildgut, Joyce and me.

Post midnight - Chief and I salsa - my main struggle was keeping that dress up!!!

Sunrise at Mint on Jan 1

Cool shot of people reclining on the beds outside at Mint.

Some fellow at Mint with a pretty funny t-shirt, no?

Gabriel and I sitting on the fence at Mint on Jan 1, 2006. He's hilarious - very dry wit.
