Japanese Garden, sleeping in a garage office, floods.

This is for last monday through yesterday.

Monday – was miserably hot – brutal really – like 100* plus humidity. I felt like melting paste. I took a sweaty stroll to the Jardin Japones (“hardeen hah-poe-ness”) which is lovely except that some of the little lakes are under repair. Took forever to get the shot of the bird posing nicely. But no complaints here – just gave me a challenge during photography. After that I took a bus and ended up near the cooking school so I stopped into pick up a schedule. Lets see what I can sign up for – I may not be able to take any more classes.

Tuesday was some lovely overcast weather – I took a 5 hour walk – saw that giant metallic flower up close, read more of This Side of Paradise on the steps of the Law School, walked through the Recoleta (the ritziest part of town) and bought a copy of Siddartha (in Spanish!). Went to Photoshop class, and then swung by Avenida Pueyrredon (a large avenue) to drop off a cd of pics to the kids I spent the new year with. They were leaving for Ushuaia (Argentina’s southen-most city) the next day and they were kind enough to invite me that evening to a very sleek modern restaurant named Sucre with them (here's a pic of Melissa's fantastic red hair) and then we took off to Mundo Bizarro to pass the time until their flight at 6 in the morning. Here's a real pic inside Mundo Bizarro as opposed to the one i ripped off the net...
Wednesday –gloriously overcast, then tons of rain – movies on TV - really chill day – didn’t do much at all. I did learn how to use the self-timer on my camera. Here's a first failed attempt though...
Thursday to Friday - photoshop class ended at 10 PM – then went to a restaurant called Kendra for Marie’s (German girl I know) going away dinner. Afterward to bar 878 Thames, then to “Lost” – same hip hop club I went to like a month ago or so – and guess what? I ran into Pablo Miyar again – he’s going to open up a bar soon in an area called Congreso. Should be cool. Then, when the music changed to some hideous techno we took off with some a couple of really odd American guys to their apartment for champagne on the rooftop. It was freezing by 5 AM – Marie wants to stay awake till her flight – so I volunteer to come to my place to pass the time until restaurants open for breakfast. Its me, Marie and her Canadian friend Mandy. I take some shots of an amazing sunrise... I fall asleep, wake up again and tell the girls that I’m not going to join them for breakfast. Marie walks out of the apartment, I follow her (just to say bye to them in the hallway and call the elevator) and the Canadian girl exits my apartment and SHUTS THE DOOR!! And immediately turn and with daggers darting out of my eyes I say “you just locked me out of my aparment”. She says “but aren’t you coming with us?” to which I reply “Do I LOOK like I’m going anywhere?” and I gave myself a big up and down look prompting her to do the same. I had on a hooded sweater, satiny pajama pants, and socks. Not shoes. Just socks. So needless to say it’s an extremely unpleasant 20 floor descent and a very brief goodbye. Long story short – I spend 2 hours sleeping in the doorman’s “office” in the garage (cleaned-out storage room) until the locksmith got there. Here I am on the way back up to my apartment, keys in hand, barely awake from my garage nap. Woke up at 4pm and determined to make most of my day so I did what I love most – went to a café to read. The weather was overcast and utterly perfect. I had a submarino (the kind of hot chocolate that is made by melting an actual chocolate bar into hot milk) and a monstrous portion of ricotta cheesecake. Nearly finished my book, then went and bought a cd of romantic Italian music. Eh – not soo good. Music is hit and miss, isn’t it? Then my cousin Billy picked me up and took me to a gorgeous neighborhood called San Ysidro where we got icecream that they shape into a long long peak and coat in chocolate forming a foot-long cone. Excellent. Tasty. Fattening. A great way to end that day.
Saturday – breakfast with Flu at Café Martinez – then off to Pilar to chill with my cousin Max. Crazy thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday – check out the flooded golf course that my cousin lives next to.
Today – I had my first drawing class and I loved it. Just learned a little about proportion and some shading. The guy liked my first attempt – so I was happy with that. I had to draw a Degas – I think it was called bathing nude or something. Hardly what I would’ve chosen myself, but hey – its about learning isn’t it? ;) While drawing her I realized she's got the wrists of a milkmaid and the physique that says "I love both sides of my toast buttered, thank you". Ahhh - if only that were still the ideal...
and here's the original. its softer than mine - but thats because our teacher wanted us to make harder lines. he actually came over to my desk and start putting hard lines in...

Alright – that’s enough.

hey, if you want to take photoshop classes without having to travel to Argentina, I got something for ya...

And Karen, you have a Mac, so this will be very easy for you. Go to Itunes, click on podcasts, then search for Photoshop. There are a couple, but the best one I think is Photoshop TV. It takes a while to download, but you can start the downloads when you head off to sleep.

Also, I just bought a camcorder. Using it tonight at the orgy. I'll post it on your blog.

Canadians will always stab you in the back!! dammit.
Yes, I finally made it to the garden. I felt like i could live there and that the groundspeople would simply "understand". Like they'd see my spirit, and be like "yes....she belongs here".
I've got a few complaints about the art teacher. you'll see in the next post.
I like the t-shirt idea. What if, instead it says "I went to argentina, and all i got was this lousy steak" and then i sew a t-bone on there? Just walk around with rotting steak on my shirt...
