Another Typical Space Cadet Move & Unexpected Wet T-Shirt Contest
So Monday's art class was cool because our assignment was to creat an abstract version of what we had drawn. So I had a couple ideas of how to do it. I thought about making her look like something else...you know, circles, squares etc. I decided to fill her in with these kind of feathery or frond-like shapes. Each one would be a color...it was turning out pretty cool. The prof and the other students liked it - but were also saying "wow, thats going to take a long time" - they were right. Now here's the sad part - I just noticed this morning that I lost my folder.

Going
and gone...
My heart sank. I had already left it in a couple of places that day, and I had to walk back and get it. I'm SAD!!!!! :( I guess I'll have to go back to the art store and either A) try to reproduce what I had (potential to drive myself to suicide) or B) start something from scratch. So disappointed in myself. Oh well. I called the place where I went to buy my riding breeches (oh right - had my first two horseback riding lessons this week - very cool. The pants could be much more flattering though - yikes) and left a message to see if I left the folder in the changing room or something. I think I took it with me though. They haven't called me back either. UGH!!! I swear - I need handlers. Like people just prodding me along telling me to remember this, go over there, fill this out, not through that door - go through this one, ask how much it costs, take the cab not the subway, look at the time!, answer the phone, dont eat that! etc etc. Once my father told me I should staple things to my body. He's not that far off target I suppose.
Alrighty - so Tuesday, on the way back from riding, it started to get quite grey out. I jumped into the subte and when I got out, the sky was falling. I was wearing a jeanskirt, a t-shirt and flip flops. The stop is about 2.5 blocks from my house. That distance magically multiples by 100 when buckets of water are descending upon you. I made it part way up the first block and hung out under the awning of a store.
Then I waited...maybe 20 minutes - it would not relent! Tick tock, tock tick...I watch others brave the storm and try to gather up the courage to do the same, after all - it would be pretty funny to run through the rain and I was so close to home I could jump into some new clothes and make a cappuccino in no time. So I made a run for it. When I got to the corner I noticed that a river had formed at the corner. Must've been like 4-5 feet wide...I jumped! Very Indiana Jones leap of faith type thing, and off went my right flip flop. I turned and watched it float down the river and I ran after it...it had traveled like 10 feet by the time I caught up with it. I put it back on, then decided to take them both off and I did a quick sprint across the street to the next awning where this guy told me he watched me go after the flip flop and that he didn't think I was going to make it, and he offered his congratulations. :D I love rainy day comaraderie!!!!!! Seriously, it brings out the best in people. I think its just that its annoying to be caught in the rain, but not deadly so everyone pitches in (offers you to walk under their umbrella or hang out in their store) and they feel good about themselves for helping out a stranger in need (without having to fork out any cash).
Last night I saw Memoirs of a Geisha. Its fine - not amazing, but cool to watch. Having read the book i noticed of course all that was missing and so on, but having been warned by my friends who had seen it, I knew not to expect too much. A cool part is that Flu and I snuck in sandwiches and candy. I watched Memoirs and ate a ham and cheese sandwich at the same time. How un-Geisha. ;)
OKAY - i just found THE BEST adapter for my little Mac's powercord!!!! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
The English kids are back from Bariloche so I'll probably see them this evening.
Aufwiedersehen, peeps. Next week is Iguazu.

add to that, and I'm taking this from my friend Misty - there are a great deal of missed opportunities visually. I wasn't as knocked out as I expected to be in that respect. Inside scoop was that there was a great deal of unhappiness on the set. Misty thinks it translated to the final product.
KG.. you are an amazing artist! I am so impressed by your ability to see things in cool ways, I freaking loved the swirly things!!! That blows that you lost your folder. Those are things why I would be an excellent personal assistant.. I always know other peoples business and what they should be doing with it! :) I'm good at keeping other people on track, well look at all of my career choices, that's obvious. Anyway, you're a great artist and good at many things... props to the Argentine!
