La Feria del Libro

Bobby and I went to the Feria del Libro - its S.America's largest international book fair. Takes place from April 22 - May 8.

Some picks inside the expo

Walked around for a good while, stumbled onto the basque book place. It was quite feeble, however it had these great pins and I bought a bundle! New charms for the necklace - chaching!

So I've go this idea that I want to read to children. I'm guessing its my way of feeling useful to society. Also, its a way of interacting without having to take care of them or pretend to be engaged by their little thoughts. Anyhow, the children's area was sponsored by Mimo & Co., its a children's clothing line based in Argentina and it has stores in many countries such as Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, United States, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, Southafrica, Spain and Italy. I made up a new slogan: "Mimo & Co, providing clothing for Argentina's arian youth" OR lets try: "Mimo & Co, exporting racial inferiority complexes to all South America". C'mon...look at this ad. Even Germans would be impressed by the blinding blondess of these children! ...check out the ad:

Argentines need their "cafecito". There were a great deal of cafes throughout the fair.

I love this, there was a little kickback area sponsored by one of the national newspapers aptly named "La Nacion" - the Nation.

Here's a picture of Marcelo Palacios - a tv and radio sports commentator. He's on a radio station called Radio Mitre that had a set up there. Here he is signing autografs for future Argentine soccer hooligans.

We bailed after that. It was a bit tough not recognizing the vast majority of the publishing companies. We also couldn't seem to figure out a pattern to how the pavilions were laid out. I may pass by again tomorrow to see if I can meet any of the people who read to kids. We'll see....
