Back trackin'

This covers last Thursday and Friday
Here we go..

Thursday / Estancia

Heading out to La Candelaria on Thursday morning, we started our day at 5:45. By 6:40 we were picking out facturas (facturas include croissants, croissant-like breads, and any sweet breads with custards, jams and/or dulce de leche) for our bus ride to Lobos where La Candelaria is. As you can see on the side its only $4.80 pesos for a dozen. Brutal. They taste amazing. I mean, look at them there, just sitting on the trays waiting for you to snag them. Still toasty from the oven....its from the bakery of my favorite cafe just 1.5 blocks from my house. I love that place. In previous posts you see Shannon having a submarino outside the cafe, and Misty having a submarino inside.

Fernando let us in on a little bit of trivia - look like Argentina had purchased some subway trains from asia, thus the "no smoking" in what looks like to me to be Chinese. This was on the ride going to the bus station.

Waiting for our remis at the gas station we stumble upon a mate machine. Only in Argentina (and I bet Uruguay) can you find a mate dispenser...this is in Lobos, the town where the estancia is located.
Cutest little donkey ever ever.

Bobby biking down the path.

Fernando and I biking down an incredible path at Candelaria.

Here's our picture of La Candelaria on an overcast and rainy day. It was still beautiful though. Some ritzies were playing futbol on the lawn. Seems as though they were there for a wedding that weekend. 200 guests, 80 of which would be staying at the hotel. Such a brilliant idea. Seems wonderful.

Bobby and Fernando pretending to be lords of the manor.

Friday:
The mighty river....

Bobby and Fern went to the races while i was at horseback riding. They lived it. Crazy old Argentines freaking out, gambling away their earning, acting like they've got the inside scoop on a horse and watching it lose. Gorgeous building though.

Here's Ramiro - the newest version of Gorostieta. Thats him with his dad's friend Hernan. He's getting an early start on red wine.

At this crazy restaurant they pass around the "bota" which is a leather bag full of wine. You tilt it back and let it stream right down your throat. If you've been to my house you might have tried it.

Here's crazy old spanish guy's own bottle of wine. its actually quite good. Non eo fht eusual tang that comes with red wine.

This crazy Spaniard can drink from a bota and sing AT THE SAME TIME. Its a skill, but I dont think its one to be envied. Pretty hilarious to watch though...

Uh oh, staring at the booze!!!

Fern's last day was Saturday!!!!! Bob and I both wished he could've extended the trip, but we were lucky we even got him around as long as we did. Bye Fern!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frisbees are fun!

seriously, if you buy me one and bring it back, I will pay you double - think of it as an investment.
