Mike and Amelia...Adios!!!

Boooooo!!! They just left. You know, you get used to people being around, and then suddenly they're gone. Its a sad but necessary lesson to learn. They had a great time I think - in just a short amount of time they went to Iguazu, Colonia, went all over town, had great steak, saw some tango, went to the Colon on the 30th anniversary of the "golpe" and got dialed into the young Buenos Aires art movement. Pretty solid.

Here are some photos of what we've been doing these last few days...

Of course we had to pass by the brilliant flower on Figueroa Alcorta. It was a gorgeous day - much better than when I went a few months back. I took the shot with a "tungsten" effect to make it ultra blue - nice, no?

After meeting some of the Run Dont Walk art group Mike was inspired to use contact paper to make stickers for Project: , his gallery. We stopped into a store where they sold some and guess what? The fellow who owns the store was in the movie Evita and danced with Madonna. Here's a pic with us two dancing and a still from the movie. Turns out he and his wife run a tango school. He said "I'm not the cheapest, and I'm not the most expensive - but I'll teach you well". Maybe I'll take a few classes, no? It really is an amazing dance- if you have a good lead. The expression 'It takes two to tango' couldn't be more true.

This is a wire thats been shaped into a man playing the trumpet - it was also at the Run Dont Walk studio. I messed around with the colors, exposure and so on. They had it hanging from the ceiling with some fishing wire. They bought it in La Boca in a tourist shop ;) Pretty funny no? Artists buying tourist art!!! Walking around their place I noticed that they had drawn or stenciled everything - even the toilet -

Here's Mike chatting it up with Tristan and two guys from Doma - another art studio - they do lots of work for MTV, VH1 and countless other comapnies - really out there and successful.
Turns out their main guy is friends with my friend Melody and Tury who live in Miami!!!!!! smalllllllllllllll world. Mel and Tury and their friend Sam run "Friends With You" and they make toys. Some of THE coolest people I know. Here's the fellow that knows them - we took a photo together that I sent to Mel with no subject to suprise her ;)

Unfortunately I dont have any pictures of us from last night! We went to an amazing resturant called LaCabrera. Great parilla - the crowd was that poshy Bs.As. type - but no matter - it wasn't pretentious at all. When Bobby gets here I'll definitely take him there. Fantastic steak. Monster portions.

It was awesome having Mike and Amelia here - and I really think they enjoyed themselves. Then again - they are the kind of people that always have a good time - they always make the most of things - thats why we've been friends for so long. We've already got plans for the Hollywood Bowl in the summer! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I have to give a big welcome to Shannon Herber! She arrives tomorrow night - I better start planning some outings in the city :)

Next!!!!!!!!
